Napoli given green light to sign Rasmus Hojlund in January

Napoli have been given the green light to bring forward the permanent signing of Rasmus Hojlund in January after an impressive start in Italy.

According to The Mirror, Manchester United have opened the doors to allow Napoli to bring forward the permanent signing of Rasmus Hojlund. The Danish striker, who flopped at Old Trafford, has hit the ground running at the Serie A champions, who are now keen to exercise their obligatory clause to keep hold of the forward.

Manchester United struggled for a good period during the summer to find a solution to Rasmus Hojlund’s future. Since arriving in a big deal from Atalanta two seasons ago, the Dane had failed to hit the ground running at Old Trafford, as he only had 14 goals to show for his cause in 62 league appearances for the Red Devils.

Manchester United signed Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig in the summer, and once the deal was finalised, the doors for Hojlund’s exit opened up. The Red Devils did field a few offers for the 22-year-old misfit, but eventually he ended up returning to Italy.

Hojlund joined Napoli on a season-long loan deal, which included clauses that could turn the move into a permanent one at the end of the season. Given his form at Manchester United, the Italian champions had a hit of doubts about whether he would come good in Antonio Conte’s team, but they have been left surprised by his form.

Hojlund has so far notched four goals in six outings across all competitions, as Conte’s side have successfully filled the void left by the injury to key striker Romelu Lukaku. Given the 22-year-old’s form, there’s every chance that he will play alongside the Belgian when he does return from his fitness issues, as the Dane is now seen as a key part of Conte’s plans.

Napoli to bring forward the Rasmus Hojlund deal

Napoli are thoroughly impressed with Hojlund and his performances, as they have reportedly decided to bring forward the deal to keep the forward permanently. Manchester United have reportedly given the green light for such a move to materialise, as the report states talks are at an advanced stage.

It will cost Napoli £38 million to get a deal in place, as the report states that’s the price decided between the two clubs. From Manchester United’s perspective, they will be taking a massive loss on their investment in the 22-year-old misfit, although they are happy to get a permanent solution for the forward.
