West Ham United in transfer tussle to sign Kenneth Taylor
West Ham United will reportedly compete with FC Porto and Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign 23-year-old Dutch midfielder Kenneth Taylor from Eredivisie giants Ajax.
According to a report by the Dutch version of ESPN, Kenneth Taylor is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are eager to bolster their first-team squad by signing a versatile midfielder in the winter transfer window. So, the 23-year-old Ajax mainstay has emerged as a target for the East London outfit.
West Ham will not be alone in the race to sign Dutchman, as Wolverhampton Wanderers and FC Porto are also keen on securing his services. However, Taylor is unwilling to move to the Molineux next year, while Ajax will battle hard to keep the youngster at the Johan Cruijff Arena for the long haul.
Kenneth Taylor has established himself as one of the Eredivisie’s best midfielders since breaking into the first-team squad at Ajax. A native of Alkmaar, the youngster spent his formative years in the Netherlands, starting his youth career with De Foresters before joining Ajax in 2010. The 23-year-old has been with Ajax for over a decade and a half, and his exploits have helped him break into his national side.
The Dutch midfielder has made over 150 appearances thus far for Ajax while chipping in with 36 goals and 25 assists. Meanwhile, Taylor’s progress at the Eredivisie club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Premier League outfits, in particular, have been keen on signing him for a long time, with West Ham United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature next year.
West Ham United’s interest in Kenneth Taylor is understandable. The Hammers are scouring the market for a versatile midfielder, as deficiencies in the middle of the park have been the team’s undoing for a long time. The latest setback for West Ham came against Leeds United, with the West Yorkshire outfit beating them 2-1 on Friday.
Widespread reports have linked the East London outfit with several midfielders, including Mateo Kovacic. However, Taylor is also a viable target for West Ham, with the 23-year-old Dutchman having the quality to be an upgrade on underperforming players like Guido Rodriguez.
Additionally, James Ward-Prowse has no future at West Ham under Nuno Espirito Santo.
