Gabriel Villamil’s impressive performances for Ecuador’s LDU Quito have put him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in Europe. According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have taken note of his performances, and they could soon make a move for him.
Villamil came up the ranks at Bolivar before making the switch to LDU Quito at the start of 2024. While it was an initial loan deal, the move was made permanent at the start of this year. The 24-year-old central midfielder has been involved in a total of 74 matches for the Ecuadorian outfit and has even contributed towards 14 goals. His consistent performances across competitions haven’t gone unnoticed.
The Bolivia international has been in sensational form this season, and his standout performances in the Copa Libertadores have placed him on Manchester City’s radar. With Quito taking a step into the final of the continental tournament by beating Palmeiras 3-0 in the semi-final first leg, Villamil could have a few more chances of proving his credentials. For now, Manchester City seem quite keen on his signature.
