Everton on the trail of Kojo Peprah Oppong
Everton are on the trail of Kojo Peprah Oppong ahead of the January window, as OGC Nice are probably anticipating a formal approach.
According to Africa Foot, Kojo Peprah Oppong is a target for Everton ahead of the January window. The defender has attracted interest from the Toffees following some impressive displays for OGC Nice, with an offer being planned ahead of the winter months.
Everton are likely to enter the market for new defenders in the future windows, as there are some long-term doubts over some of their stars. The likes of Michael Keane and James Tarkowski are ageing, with the club likely to be in a position to invest in the central positions.
Keane, in particular, is coming to the end of his time at the Toffees, with David Moyes likely to target a younger version of centre-back to replace the experienced star. However, there are some names that Everton are thinking about in the market, with one of them being Kojo Peprah Oppong.
The 21-year-old Ligue 1 defensive prodigy has been putting in the shifts for OGC Nice in France. Some clubs are looking closely at the defender despite his arrival at the Ligue 1 side only back in the summer. He is yet to find his feet properly at the French side.
Yet, Everton are readying a bid for the defender, with the report stating they might have already tabled an 8 million offer for Nice’s consideration. Whether that would be enough remains the question, considering the French side signed the 21-year-old Ligue 1 defensive prodigy only for 1 million in the summer.
Kojo Peprah Oppong could be a good fit for the future
Nice have the knack of developing defensive talents over the years, with the likes of Jean Claire Todibo a certain example of that. Defenders coming out of France have a good reputation, and Everton could make do with such a signing as they must build for the future.
For Moyes, the top priority must be bringing in the right centre-back partner for Jarrad Branthwaite, who signed a new deal back in the summer. Hence, someone like Kojo Peprah Oppong could be a good option for the immediate window, as it could allow the Toffees to build for the future.
