Aston Villa ready to pay €20 million for Gonzalo Garcia
Aston Villa are reportedly willing to pay €20 million to sign Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid to provide him with opportunities to develop his talents.
According to Fichajes, Gonzalo Garcia is a target for Aston Villa ahead of the January window. The Premier League side are willing to table a €20 million offer to test Real Madrid’s resolve on the 21-year-old rising star, who is having limited opportunities under Xabi Alonso to express his talents.
Gonzalo Garcia came to prominence during the Club World Cup held in the summer. With four goals and an assist to his name, he was one of the club’s brightest performers in the competition, but that has not improved his standing with the first team in the regular season.
Garcia has played around 105 minutes in La Liga, but in the 12 minutes across two games in the Champions League has produced an assist for the 21-year-old Real Madrid whizkid. There are no stories claiming he is unhappy at the moment, but there could be a chance for him to join another team if an opportunity arises.
At 21, he might feel the need to play regularly, but that may not come at Real Madrid, as only an injury crisis to the forward line would force Xabi Alonso to bring him to the fore. Hence, there’s every chance the 21-year-old Real Madrid whizkid could angle for a move away, as the likes of Aston Villa are among those keen.
Back in the summer, following Garcia’s exploits at the Club World Cup, he did have a few Premier League teams showing an interest. However, ahead of the January window, Real Madrid might have to decide on his immediate or long-term future, as a sale or even a loan move is possible.
Aston Villa are prepared to pay €20 million
Aston Villa have recognised there’s a lot more to Garcia’s game, and may be willing to fork out €20 million to test Real Madrid’s resolve on the 21-year-old. Whether that amount is enough to tempt the Spanish giants into making a sale remains to be seen, and even if they end up agreeing, Real Madrid are likely to add clauses that will allow them a good level of control on Garcia’s long-term future.
Now, there will be questions whether Aton Villa would be open to a loan move if that is what Madrid would want for the player in the immediate term. Last January, the Birmingham side did make some loan deals for notable stars, and their seriousness on Garcia might determine their overall stance on a transfer move soon.
