Chelsea, Tottenham links with Vitor Roque rubbished
Chelsea and Tottenham have been linked with a move for 20-year-old Palmeiras striker Vitor Roque in recent weeks.
Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola has now revealed on his YouTube channel that Chelsea and Tottneham Hotspur are not keen on signing Vitor Roque, and the links are just rumours. He also added that Palmeiras have no intention of letting the player leave the club and that they are looking to keep the 20-year-old at the club for the long term.
The youngster failed to make his mark in European football with Barcelona in the past, but he has managed to regain his form and confidence at the Brazilian club. The South American attacker has 21 goal contributions to his name this season, and there is no doubt that he would be an excellent player for club and country in the long term.
Chelsea have already invested in a couple of strikers during the summer transfer window, and it makes no sense for them to sign another goalscorer. They should look to invest in other areas of the squad instead. So, the links with the Palmeiras attacker did not make sense.
On the other hand, Tottenham could certainly use a quality striker. Dominic Solanke has not been able to find the back of the net regularly, and Randal Kolo Muani is expected to return to his parent club upon the expiry of his loan spell.
The 20-year-old Brazilian could have been a quality acquisition for the North London club, but a move seems highly unlikely anytime soon. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham and Chelsea decide to move for other targets.
Roque might secure a big move in future
Meanwhile, the 20-year-old Barcelona flop will certainly look to test himself at the highest level once again. For now, Vitor Roque should focus on his development with regular football at the Brazilian club. He will have plenty of opportunities to join big clubs in the future.
There is no doubt that the Brazilian is a promising young player with a bright future, and he will look to fulfil his potential at a big club in the future. It remains to be seen where he ends up. If he continues to perform the way he has done in recent months, it won’t be long before top teams come calling for him once again.
