Real Madrid continue 100% Champions League record with hard-fought victory over Juventus
Real Madrid 1-0 Juventus
Real Madrid have made it three wins from three in this season’s Champions League, having seen off Juventus in unconvincing fashion at the Santiago Bernabeu.
It was a poor first half showing from Xabi Alonso’s side, who created few chances up against a resilient Juventus side. They did have a golden chance before the interval when Kylian Mbappe was played in, but his effort was expertly saved by Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, who was in inspired form over the piece.
However, he was beaten just before the hour mark. An excellent run from Vinicius Junior ended with him striking the post, but Jude Bellingham was on hand the turn the ball into the back of the net from close range, scoring his first goal of the season in the process.

For the most part, Real Madrid were in control, but Juventus had their chances. Dusan Vlahovic was denied by Thibaut Courtois in a 1-on-1 situation, while Raul Asencio made a crucial block to deny the visitors from scoring an equalising goal in the closing stages.
In the end, neither side were able to find the second goal of the game, which meant that Bellingham’s goal was enough for Real Madrid to continue their 100% record in the league phase. In turn, it means that they are also up to fifth in the standings, behind Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Inter and Arsenal.
Attention now return to Sunday’s El Clasico showdown
It’s now four wins in a row across all competitions for Real Madrid, who have bounced back well from their Madrid derby humiliation in September. But they now face another showdown clash this weekend, as Barcelona make the trip to the Bernabeu for El Clasico. Los Blancos will fancy their chances, although they will need to be better than they were against Juventus if they are to defeat their bitter rivals.
