Aston Villa well-placed to sign Takefusa Kubo
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are very well-placed to sign Real Sociedad attacking mainstay Takefusa Kubo.
Having revived his career at Real Sociedad, Takefusa Kubo now looks set for a move away. With the Spanish club struggling in La Liga, the Japanese international has had enough and has decided it is time to move on.
According to a report from Fichajes, Aston Villa are keen on acquiring his services, and as things stand, Unai Emery’s team are well-positioned to get a deal over the line for the 24-year-old.
While things didn’t work out for Kubo at Real Madrid, he has certainly managed to get his career back on track since joining Sociedad in the summer of 2022. The Japanese international has established himself as one of their mainstays.
He has featured in 145 matches and has contributed towards 42 goals. While he remains one of the first names on their team sheet and still has four years left on his deal, his future has been up in the air of late.
Kubo is disappointed with Sociedad’s management. He feels he could lose his best years in a stagnant project at the Spanish club. Their recent results surely don’t help them in keeping hold of a player like Kubo.
After nine league outings, Sociedad find themselves in the relegation zone. The Japanese international is frustrated and has decided to leave the club. The only way to keep the 24-year-old would be to put together a strong project and make some statement signings.
Kubo could join Aston Villa in January
While Kubo has made his demands clear, the club’s lack of response means the former Real Madrid star could end up pushing for a move away. He could be heading to the Premier League, where Aston Villa are reportedly keen on securing his signature.
Unai Emery’s side are on the lookout for a dynamic and experienced winger to strengthen their project, and they consider Kubo an ideal fit. They could move for him in January, as they continue to monitor his situation at Sociedad.
The 24-year-old is currently valued at over €30 million, which shouldn’t be a problem for Emery’s team. With Kubo eager to compete in Europe, Villa are believed to be in a strong position to land him.
