Barcelona, Manchester City vying for Karl Etta Eyong
Barcelona and Manchester City are interested in signing the Levante striker Karl Etta Eyong.
According to a report from Fichajes, the two clubs are hoping to sign the 22-year-old striker. He has done quite well since joining Levante and the 22-year-old could prove to be a solid long-term acquisition for them.
He has the potential to play for the biggest clubs in the country and the opportunity to join Barcelona or Manchester City will be hard to turn down for him. Levante will not want to lose a key player like him but they could be under pressure to sell him if there is a concrete proposal on the table. The player will certainly be attracted to the idea of joining some of the biggest clubs in the world. If he decides to force an exit, Levante might be powerless to stop him from leaving.
Meanwhile, Barcelona need more depth in the attacking unit. They will need to replace Robert Lewandowski soon and the 22-year-old would be a very useful acquisition for them. He is a talented player who is already showing his quality in La Liga. He will only improve with coaching and experience. He could develop into a future star for the Spanish champions.
Man City move might not be ideal
On the other hand, Manchester City need more quality in the final third as well. Although they have Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush at their disposal, it seems that they are looking to add the 22-year-old La Liga attacker. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. The 22-year-old should look to join a club where he will get regular opportunities. Staying in Spain with Barcelona might be more beneficial for him. He could get more opportunities at the Spanish club compared to Manchester City.
Furthermore, Barcelona have a tremendous record when it comes to grooming young players. They have helped elite young talents develop into superstars over the years. The 22-year-old will certainly be attracted to the idea of joining them.
Both clubs have the financial muscle to get the deal across the line and it will be interesting to see which of the two clubs follow up on their interest with an official proposal at the end of the season. It is unlikely that Levante will sanction his departure in the middle of the season. Any move might have to wait until the summer transfer window.
