Barcelona, PSG rival Real Madrid in Ibrahima Konate chase

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has been heavily linked with a move to La Liga club Real Madrid in the last few months.

It appears that Barcelona and PSG have now joined the race to sign the £35 million Liverpool defender. According to Fichajes, all three clubs are hoping to sign the French international defender on a free transfer.

His contract comes to an end in the summer of 2026, and he has not signed an extension with Liverpool yet.  It seems that Konaté will leave the club in the coming months, and it remains to be seen where he ends up.

All three clubs could be exciting destinations for the defender. He will be able to fight for major trophies with them.

Konate could fancy all three clubs

Barcelona have recently won the league title, and they are looking to build a formidable squad capable of winning the UEFA Champions League as well. Ronald Araújo has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months, and Konaté could be an excellent addition. Signing a player of his quality and experience on a free transfer would be a masterstroke.

Similarly, Real Madrid need to add more quality and depth to the defensive unit. They need a reliable long-term replacement for Antonio Rüdiger, and the French defender could be ideal for them.

As for PSG, they have recently won the league title and the UEFA Champions League. They are looking to improve the team further so that they can continue winning major trophies. Signing the Liverpool defender could be a wise decision.

The opportunity to return to his homeland could be quite exciting for the Liverpool star.

Whoever manages to sign him on a free transfer could have a bargain on their hands. It will be interesting to see where the player ends up. Losing the player on a free transfer would be a blow for the Premier League champions, but they are powerless to stop him from leaving. It remains to be seen whether they can convince him to sign a new deal in the coming months.
