Tottenham enter Nicolas Raskin chase

Tottenham are all set to battle Crystal Palace and West Ham United for the signature of Rangers midfield mainstay Nicolas Raskin.

Nicolas Raskin has attracted a lot of interest from across Europe on the back of his exceptional performances for Rangers. According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham have entered the race for the services of the Belgian international, who is already on the wishlist of Crystal Palace and West Ham United.

Raskin joined the Scottish giants at the start of 2023 from Standard Liege for around £2 million. He has only gone from strength to strength since making the move. The 24-year-old central midfielder has made quite a name for himself with his standout performances, tenacity, vision, and versatility.

While the player’s contract at Rangers runs until the summer of 2027, his future has been a massive talking point since the start of the summer. The Belgian international was keen on leaving the club, and it resulted in him being sidelined from the squad by Russell Martin.

The manager has since parted ways with the club, but Nicolas Raskin’s future has not been resolved yet. The 24-year-old remained at the club because there were no concrete offers for him during the summer. However, that could change in the winter window as multiple clubs from across Europe are after him.

Premier League clubs could battle for Raskin

Given his consistent performances for club and country, clubs like Crystal Palace and West Ham United already have Nicolas Raskin on their wishlist. The Eagles want more quality and depth in the centre of the park, while the Hammers want an upgrade in midfield and believe his ability to control the tempo of games could come in handy.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have also entered the race for the Belgian midfielder. The North London club are set to prioritise signing a new midfielder in the winter transfer window. While Thomas Frank has made an impressive start to life at Tottenham, he feels they lack enough options in the centre of the park.

Raskin is now quite high on their wishlist, and they could look to test Rangers’ resolve in January. While the Scottish club would love to have him around, they might struggle to keep hold of him amidst interest from some top clubs and the player’s desire to leave.

They could sanction his departure for a fee of around £20-25 million, factoring in the sell-on clause that his previous club holds. A fee in that region could make him the biggest sale in the club’s history.
