Manchester City run rule over Aleksandar Pavlovic, face battle for deal
Manchester City recently dispatched scouts to watch 21-year-old Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic during the international break.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Aleksandar Pavlovic is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Citizens are keen on reinforcing their midfield unit next year and have set their sights on Bayern Munich prospect. However, while they have scouted the 21-year-old midfielder during the international break, they may face stiff competition from Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United for his signature.
Aleksandar Pavlovic and his career so far
Aleksandar Pavlovic has established himself as one of the most promising prodigies in the Bundesliga since breaking into the first-team squad at Bayern Munich. The 21-year-old spent his formative years in Germany and graduated from the youth division at Bayern Munich.
Pavlovic has made over 50 appearances thus far for Bayern Munich, chipping in with four goals and three assists. Meanwhile, the German midfielder’s progress has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, have shown interest in Pavlovic, with Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.
A man in demand
Pep Guardiola has been an admirer of Aleksandar Pavlovic’s talent for a long time, compelling Manchester City to pursue the youngster’s signature. The interest is understandable, as midfield deficiencies have caused Manchester City’s struggles in the last 12 months. As for Chelsea, it is unclear why they still need a midfielder unless Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez depart from Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s interest in Aleksandar Pavlovic is understandable, as Casemiro’s long-term future is uncertain after entering the final 12 months of his contract. Additionally, Manuel Ugarte has failed to make his mark since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain last year. So, Pavlovic is a viable target for Manchester United.
As for Liverpool, the Reds are scouring the market for a versatile midfielder, as Wataru Endo’s long-term future is uncertain. Additionally, the Premier League champions have been over-dependent on Ryan Gravenberch in the middle of the park. So, Pavlovic is an option worth considering for Liverpool.
Like Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United also had scouts present in the stands when Germany faced Northern Ireland during the international break. With the 21-year-old German international attracting widespread interest, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him.
