Joshua Zirkzee unhappy at Manchester United, Roma and Como interested

Manchester United wantaway Joshua Zirkzee could return to Italy in January to reignite his career, with both Roma and Como reportedly interested.

The 24-year-old striker has only featured four times from the bench for the Red Devils this term. He is rumoured to favour a comeback in Serie A, where he previously enjoyed his best career campaign to grab 11 goals in 34 games.

It’s only natural that the six-cap Oranje international is unhappy, as his chances of game time look slim with Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo his competition. He risks missing out on the World Cup with the Netherlands, so a winter move is ideal and the player is interested in an exit.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma are believed to be in pole position, while Como are also in the running. The capital club are currently unsure about Artem Dovbyk (who was close to being sold in the summer) and have yet to see what the injured new signing Leon Bailey can do.

Gasperini was Thiago Motta’s mentor – Zirkzee’s coach at Bologna – and previously wanted the Dutchman at Atalanta. However, the Giallorossi would prefer to take him on loan due to Financial Fair Play concerns. For Como, a wealthy club with an ambitious project, they have the means to acquire him outright and are seriously considering it.
