Inter Milan eyeing Bosman move for John Stones

John Stones is a big target for Inter Milan following the lack of progress with regards to a new Manchester City deal.

According to a report by Italian outlet Inter Live, John Stones could be a big target for Inter Milan next summer on a free transfer. The England international’s contract expires next summer, with no progress being made in the background regarding fresh terms, which could see the Manchester City star leave.

Inter Milan have not had the healthiest financial situation over the last many years, which has seen the club constantly target quality free agents in the market. The Nerazzurri have had plenty of luck in that regard or bringing in players on the cheap from other clubs.

They managed to sign Manuel Akanji from Manchester City on a loan with a purchase option that will not dent their finances. Regardless of the player’s age, the club have managed to get a tune out of ageing stars in the recent past, and could target another such star ahead of next summer.

John Stones is that player, with Inter Milan now eyeing a Bosman move for the defender when his current deal at Manchester City expires after the season. The England international, who signed a £47.5 million deal from Everton in 2016, has been a mainstay in many title winning campaigns under Pep Guardiola, but recent seasons have seen the defender suffer from multiple fitness issues and a loss in form.

On paper, he could be an ideal signing for Inter Milan, who are constantly looking at high-quality free agents. For now, the Nerazzurri will keep close tabs on his situation and will hope the £47.5 million Manchester City utility man does not sign a new deal at the Etihad, and a January approach over a pre-contract agreement could be very much on the cards.

John Stones’s Manchester City future in doubt

Reports were stating that Manchester City were prepared to sell him last summer, but that never materialised. Stones had no interest in leaving, and since the closure of the summer window, there have been talk of a new contract being offered.

Unfortunately, there have been no further updates on a potential new deal, which could leave his future at the Etihad in doubt. In any case, teams like Inter Milan could offer the Manchester City utility man a big chance to stay at the highest level in Europe for years to come.
