Newcastle United could sanction William Osula exit in January, key factor for move revealed

Yoane Wissa’s fitness could determine William Osula’s fate at Newcastle United, with the striker angling for an exit ahead of the winter transfer window.

According to Football Insider, William Osula’s future at Newcastle United will depend on how Yoane Wissa comes back from his knee injury. The former is keen to explore a new opportunity to improve his chances of playing in the World Cup, and a January exit could be on the cards for the 22-year-old attacker.

Newcastle United spent the entire transfer window fighting to keep Alexander Isak, only to agree a deadline day deal with Liverpool to sell the Swede. In turn, they bought Nick Woltemade a few days before the Isak sale, and then followed that signing with the arrival of Yoane Wissa.

Much like Isak, Wissa was embroiled in a transfer saga for the entire window, and finally got his move to Newcastle United on deadline day. Unfortunately, the DR Congo international sustained a knee injury while on international duty right after his transfer to the Magpies, which will keep him out at least until the November international break.

Eddie Howe will hope for Wissa’s return to full fitness soon, and should he make his comeback as planned, the club could then discuss the immediate future of William Osula. The 22-year-old attacker has found himself lacking regular minutes despite the injury to Wissa, although the Dane has two goals from his nine appearances across all competitions.

The Dane’s future ahead of January is dependent on how Wissa and Woltemade perform, although realistically, he is widely expected to leave in the winter window. Osula came close to joining Eintracht Frankfurt at the end of the summer window, but with the uncertainty around the Wissa transfer, Newcastle United chose to keep him.

William Osula set for Newcastle United exit

Eintracht Frankfurt are pondering a winter loan for Osula, and they might get their wish, given they might have established a good relationship with the 22-year-old attacker’s camp. Regular minutes under his belt seem imperative to stand a chance of making the Denmark squad for the World Cup next year.

Hence, if Wissa returns as per schedule, Newcastle United will find a way to offload William Osula. For now, Eintracht Frankfurt might be the best bet to sign the 22-year-old attacker, although there could be other clubs in the mix, and the youngster will decide on his next destination based on which team offers him regular minutes between January and the end of the season.
