Juventus rival Chelsea in Mike Maignan chase
Juventus are ready to enter the race for Mike Maignan next summer, with Chelsea and other big sides also in the hunt.
According to Ekrem Konur, Juventus are the latest side to enter the race for Mike Maignan. The AC Milan stopper seems destined to leave the San Siro on a free transfer, with Chelsea and others interested in signing on a Bosman deal next summer.
Mike Maignan was close to leaving AC Milan earlier in the summer when Chelsea were looking to strengthen their goalkeeping ranks ahead of the triumphant Club World Cup campaign. The two clubs could not agree on a fee, with the difference thought to be only a few million Euros.
Despite reports that Chelsea were keen to reignite the move, Maignan ended up staying at Milan. The Blues remain interested in signing him on a Bosman move next year, with the France international’s deal at the San Siro expiring in the summer of 2026.
Maignan could also be interested in the switch to Chelsea as of now, although the situation around next summer could be a bit different from what it is currently. Bayern Munich are interested in the keeper, as they continue searching for the right replacement for veteran Manuel Neuer.
Manchester United are another team mentioned in recent reports, and now, Juventus are the latest to enter the race. The 30-year-old summer target will have a choice of options in front of him to pick from, as there’s also a distinct possibility that AC Milan could keep him. However, talks of a new deal at the San Siro have reportedly stalled, which could see the France international depart.
Juventus in Mike Maignan chase
Juventus only signed Michele Di Gregorio last year, and so far, the Italian stopper has been good enough for the Bianconeri. However, should there be an opportunity to bring someone like Maignan on a free transfer, Juventus would like to explore their chances.
Whether they can compete financially with the likes of Chelsea or Bayern Munich remains to be seen, but they are known to sign some high-profile stars in the recent past. For now, the race for the 30-year-old summer target is wide open, with the keeper set to decide as the current season nears its conclusion.
