Arsenal make approach for Lucien Agoume

Arsenal will reportedly look to sign 23-year-old French holding midfielder Lucien Agoume from La Liga club Sevilla in the winter transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Vamos Mi Sevilla FC, Lucien Agoume is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the winter transfer window. So, the Sevilla mainstay has emerged as a target for the North London club, and they have established contact over a possible move.

Lucien Agoume and his career-changing move

Lucien Agoume has established himself as one of the best young prospects in La Liga. The Yaound native spent his formative years in France, thus becoming eligible to represent Les Bleus and the country of his birth, Cameroon. The player graduated from the youth division at FC Sochaux before Inter Milan signed him in July 2019.

However, the 23-year-old could not become a first-choice starter for Inter Milan, and the move to Sevilla has resurrected his fortunes. Los Nevionenses initially signed Agoume on loan in January 2024 before completing a permanent move in the subsequent summer transfer window.

The former French youth international has made over 50 appearances thus far for Sevilla while chipping in with two goals and four assists. Meanwhile, Agoume’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Arsenal will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the winter transfer window.

London calling?

Lucien Agoume has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, even though the North London club signed Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard in the summer transfer window. With the latter on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career, Arsenal can do with a younger midfielder.

Several candidates have thus emerged on Arsenal’s radar, with Agoume also a viable target. Recent reports have claimed that the Premier League bigwigs are ready to pay €30 million to sign the Cameroon-born midfielder. The latest update has revealed that they have been in contact to discuss a winter move.

With other Premier League clubs also in the race to sign Agoume, Arsenal must move quickly, as recent reports have linked him with Manchester United. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 23-year-old Sevilla midfielder.
