Tottenham consider recalling Luka Vuskovic from loan in January
Tottenham could consider bringing Luka Vuskovic back to the club if they feel he could add to Thomas Frank’s first-team plans.
According to TBR, Luka Vuskovic remains an option for Tottenham ahead of the January window, as the club could contemplate recalling the defender from his loan spell. Thomas Frank could seek a new centre-back in January to give his team the best possible chance, with the on-loan star one of the options considered at the moment.
Tottenham finished their Premier League duties with a late win over Leeds United, which has seen Thomas Frank’s side rise to third in the standings. However, they would like to be in and around those who are challenging for the title, as well as do well in the Champions League.
Hence, the January window might be seen as an important time from the club’s perspective, as Thomas Frank is already seeking a new defender in the winter market. Whether or not Spurs would want to spend big in strengthening the central defensive positions will be a question, given they have invested in the summer.
Kevin Danso signed on a permanent basis, while the club managed to keep hold of star defender Cristian Romero. The latter signed a new deal and was named captain after the departure of Son Heung-min, as Spurs will now target a new deal for defensive partner Miucky van de Ven.
As for the need to bring in a new defender, Spurs could have a good look at the market for new options. However, they also have an internal solution in the form of Luka Vuskovic, who joined Hamburg on loan in the summer, as Tottenham could potentially recall the promising young star from his spell in Germany.
Tottenham could recall Luka Vuskovic
Vuskovic has been a key signing for Hamburg, who has helped keep two clean sheets in his four appearances so far. The defender also opened his account with a goal against Heidenheim, as key sides like Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are already keeping close tabs. However, Spurs are making no plans to sell him, and are instead considering recalling the young star from his loan ahead of the January window.
Recalling Vuskovic might not be the priority decision from the club, although it could be something worth contemplating. However, such a move could end up derailing his current developmental arc, especially as he is performing well at Hamburg, while there are no guarantees he currently plays ahead of any of Tottenham’s existing central defensive options.
