Manchester United plotting big money move for Raphinha

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are gearing up to make a move for Barcelona attacking mainstay Raphinha.

According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester United are interested in bringing Raphinha back to the Premier League. The Brazilian winger has been on fire for Barcelona, and his consistent performances have placed him on the Red Devils’ wishlist. They are reportedly willing to put forward an offer worth around €150 million to sign the former Leeds United star.

Raphinha made a name for himself in the Premier League before making the move to Barcelona in the summer of 2022. While the initial years were not that great and the Brazilian was on the verge of leaving the club, the arrival of Hansi Flick has completely transformed his career.

Not only has he established himself as one of their mainstays, but the 28-year-old is now one of their most important players in the final third. Apart from the goals and the assists, his versatility, work rate, and link-up play have made him a very important part of Flick’s plans.

On the back of his sensational 2024/25 campaign, where he contributed towards 60 goals, Raphinha was handed a new deal in the summer. While he recently committed his future to the club, there could still be a potential departure in the near future.

His consistent performances have attracted a lot of interest from across Europe. Clubs in the Premier League also seem keen on prising him away. Manchester United are believed to be the most serious suitors at this stage. The Red Devils have added a lot of firepower to their ranks this summer, but they are still on the lookout for more.

United could make a move for Raphinha

They reportedly want to make a marquee signing that could announce their intent. Someone like Raphinha will bring in a lot of experience. The 2025 Ballon d’Or contender won’t find it difficult to adjust to English football, and his versatility could significantly bolster their attack.

They consider him just the perfect fit to uplift their project and bring glory days back to Old Trafford. They could look to submit an offer between €120 and €150 million to secure his services. However, with his new deal running until 2028, Barcelona will have complete control over his future.

While he is one of their mainstays, the Catalan giants do not have the best of financial situations, and they could listen to offers in excess of €120 million. Losing one of their most important players will be a significant blow, but if it helps ease financial pressure, they could certainly go ahead with it.

The finances involved won’t be much of a problem for the Red Devils, but they are still discussing whether to make such a big investment.
