Manchester United interested in David Affengruber

Premier League giants Manchester United are interested in acquiring the services of Elche defensive sensation David Affengruber.

According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester United are keen on signing David Affengruber and could make a move for the Elche centre-back next summer. The Austrian defender has been in sensational form in the top flight, and it has caught the attention of the Premier League giants.

The Spanish club spotted Affengruber during his stint at Sturm Graz. They ended up signing him in the summer of 2024, and he hasn’t looked back since. Not only did he play a massive role in their promotion last season, but the 24-year-old has been sensational for them in the initial phase of the season.

The newly promoted side were unbeaten in their first seven league outings, and Affengruber certainly played a big part in it. Eder Sarabia has done wonders at Elche, and he has played a big part in the Austrian’s rise, who is now one of his most important players.

His leadership, strong physical presence, and composure on the ball have stood out so far. In addition to those qualities, his ability to anticipate danger, aerial dominance, and ball-winning prowess are key reasons why some of the biggest clubs are now after his signature.

United could make a move for Affengruber

A player who was unknown just a few years back is now on the wishlist of top clubs in Europe. Manchester United are believed to be one of the biggest contenders to sign the 24-year-old. The Red Devils did make significant signings in the summer, but they still feel the need to add more quality.

Their sporting management is aware of the defensive issues; as a result, they are looking to sign the Austrian defender next summer on a priority basis. He is currently valued at €15 million, but he could make a significant jump in the next months if he continues to perform at similar levels.

However, the price tag might still not be an issue for them. While Elche won’t want to lose one of their best players, they might not have much of a choice given his contract situation and the growing interest in him.
