Manuel Locatelli uninterested in winter move to Newcastle United

Newcastle United have been linked with a move for the Juventus midfielder Manuel Locatelli.

The 27-year-old Italian International has done quite well for Juventus, and he is on the radar of clubs like Chelsea as well. It will be interesting to see if Newcastle can sign him in the coming months. Aston Villa and Newcastle are interested in signing the Italian as well.

According to Football Insider, they value him highly, and the Italian outfit will not want to lose him in January. It will be interesting to see if Newcastle decide to test their resolve with an offer midway through the season. They have a quality midfield, and signing the 27-year-old will only help them improve further.

The player has the physicality and technical attributes to do well in England, and he could be a key player for Newcastle. They managed to get the deal done. They have an ambitious project, quality, players, and a quality manager. The Italian could be attracted to their project. However, he is likely to be uninterested in a move in the middle of the season.

Pete O’Rourke said on Football Insider: “No surprise that clubs are looking at him. There’s been talk of interest, as you said, from Newcastle, Chelsea and Bayern Leverkusen. That’s because he’s a top player, a very solid defensive midfielder.

“I think Newcastle, although they’ve got a very good, strong starting midfield, he is probably covering where they’re lacking a bit, and maybe that’s why they’re being linked with Locatelli as well.

“But I don’t imagine Juventus would be encouraging any offers for Locatelli in the January window and they’ll be hoping to keep hold of their club captain.”

Newcastle could use Locatelli

Newcastle need to keep improving their team if they want to fight for major trophies. They managed to win the English League Cup last season. They will look to fight for the league title in the coming seasons.

A quality midfielder like Locatelli will not only help them improve defensively, but he will also allow the creative players to operate with more freedom. He could improve them at both ends of the pitch.

It would be a major coup for Newcastle if they manage to beat the competition for his signature.
