West Ham United retain interest in Lorenzo Pellegrini
West Ham United will reportedly look to sign 29-year-old Italian international Lorenzo Pellegrini from AS Roma in the winter transfer window.
According to a report by Forza Roma, Lorenzo Pellegrini is the subject of interest of West Ham United. The Hammers are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a versatile midfielder in the summer transfer window. So, the 29-year-old former AS Roma captain has emerged as a target for the East London outfit again.
West Ham wanted to sign the Rome native in the summer transfer window, but the deal did not materialise. However, the Hammers have not cooled their interest in Pellegrini, and they are ready to submit a bid to secure his services in January. An offer worth around €8 million may be enough to land the former AS Roma captain.
Lorenzo Pellegrini and his situation
Lorenzo Pellegrini must embark on a new adventure to resurrect his stuttering fortunes after entering the final 12 months of his contract with AS Roma and losing his spot as a regular. The 29-year-old is not in Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans, and the Serie A outfit stripped him of the club captaincy ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The Italian international has managed only 208 minutes of game time across three appearances thus far in the 2025/26 season. However, with the Italian midfielder having no future at AS Roma, a move abroad may be on the cards. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen, with West Ham United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the winter transfer window.
London calling?
Lorenzo Pellegrini has been on West Ham United’s radar for a long time, and the East London club wanted to secure his services in the summer transfer window. While a summer move did not materialise, the continued interest is understandable, as Guido Rodriguez has struggled to make his mark since arriving in a Bosman move last summer.
Additionally, James Ward-Prowse has no future at West Ham United, as the English midfielder is not in Nuno Espirito Santo’s long-term plans. So, the Hammers need a new midfielder heading into the winter transfer window, with Pellegrini emerging as a viable target again.
The Hammers are ready to submit a bid to secure Pellegrini’s services in the winter transfer window, and an offer worth €8 million may be enough to seal the deal. It will be interesting to see if the 29-year-old Italian international joins West Ham in the coming weeks.
