Ruben Amorim has identified key area he wants to improve in January
Manchester United signed Senne Lammens from Belgian club Royal Antwerp during the summer transfer window, but they are not convinced he’s ready to start for the club.
According to former Premier League scout Mick Brown, Manchester United are now looking to another goalkeeper when the transfer reopens in January. The development will come as a huge blow for the 23-year-old Belgian goalkeeper, who will be hoping to start regularly for Manchester United.
Lammens rejected other clubs to join Manchester United in the summer.
“Amorim’s still going on about the goalkeeper,” he told .
“He’s not been happy with how Bayindir is performing, and I’m told he doesn’t trust Lammens to go straight into the starting XI yet.
“That in itself is ridiculous, I can’t understand why he would have given the green light to sign a goalkeeper who he doesn’t think is good enough to play.
“I think it’s more an indictment on Amorim and the recruitment team than the players if they can’t bring in somebody who will improve the starting XI.
“So now he’s demanding they go and sign a new goalkeeper in January, it’s just shocking to be honest, I can’t wrap my head around it.
“Yes, they wanted a firm number-one goalkeeper, and that’s what they’re going to be looking for, but why did they go and get Lammens?”
Lammens is a talented player
He is highly rated across Europe, and he will look to play more often. It remains to be seen whether he can convince the Manchester United manager of his quality. Manchester United need a reliable goalkeeper, especially with the way Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir have performed in recent months.
Onana is currently out on loan, and Bayindir has been quite disappointing. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United decide to bring in a goalkeeper in the coming months. There is no doubt that they need a reliable keeper, but they should look to show more faith in their summer signing.
Lammens is a talented player with a big future, and Manchester United need to give him opportunities so that he can prove his quality. He will look to establish himself as a key player for the club.
Manchester United are lacking in quality in the other areas of the pitch as well, and they should look to focus on that. Allowing the 23-year-old to show his quality would be ideal for all parties.
