Manchester City practically rule out Rodrygo Goes move
Manchester City are set to rule out a move for summer target Rodrygo Goes after the progress made in the Savinho case.
According to Defensa Central, Manchester City could rule out any potential future move for Rodrygo Goes. The winger was high on their list during the summer, and despite staying at Real Madrid, there were suggestions that the Brazilian could potentially move out in January.
Rodrygo Goes was seen as one of the big movers during the summer window following how his situation under Xabi Alonso initially unfolded. The winger’s role as a bench player for most of Real Madrid’s Club World Cup campaign made him a favourite to leave the Santiago Bernabeu, but that move never materialised in reality.
Real Madrid might have been open to letting him leave for the right price, and some big Premier League teams were interested in him. Although he could have joined another team had the decision been clear, Rodrygo decided to stay at Real Madrid.
The attacker could have suitors in January, but Manchester City have more or less ruled out any approach following their update with Savinho. The Brazilian winger is set to sign a long-term deal at the Etihad, which more or less rules out any move for Rodrygo.
Pep Guardiola is happy with Savinho
Savinho’s future came into significant doubt during the summer, as Tottenham were pursuing him seriously. Spurs seemingly came close to getting him before Manchester City decided not to sell the winger, and now, the Citizens have convinced him to sign fresh terms at the Etihad.
Tottenham were keen on Savinho ahead of January, and while it will be a blow for them in the race, Real Madrid may also struggle to offload Rodrygo, with Manchester City no longer in the race. Hence, it remains to be seen whether Rodrygo angles an exit away from the Bernabeu, especially if his situation under Xabi Alonso does not improve, particularly with the World Cup on the horizon.
