Tottenham could consider selling Richarlison for financial reasons amid Flamengo links
Tottenham could contemplate a sale of Richarlison next summer, with Flamengo among those interested, and could offer him an exit route.
According to Fichajes, Flamengo could have some hope of signing Richarlison next summer as Tottenham could consider a sale. The striker has had a bright start to the new campaign, but there a lingering doubts over his long-term future at the north London side.
Richarlison was a big-money signing for Tottenham a few years ago, but has failed to deliver so far. The Brazilian has been a contrast of the player who starred for Everton, with many at Spurs left with a feeling that the club might have made a big mistake by investing in the attacker.
A bright start to the new season under new boss Thomas Frank has seen Richarlison register three goals and an assist in five Premier League games. He currently seems like Spurs’ first-choice striker, although that could get clearer once Dominic Solanke gets back to full fitness.
However, in the current mode, Frank is already building the attacking build-up based on Richarlison’s moments, as he has been a central figure in how they attack. There’s a big expectation that the 28-year-old resurgent star will play plenty of games this season, and that is after Spurs considered selling him during the summer.
His long-term future has come under significant doubt, as Richarlison did not want to leave Tottenham during the summer. His current deal expires in 2027, which gives Tottenham two choices to either renew his deal or sell him next summer.
Flamengo could angle a move for Richarlison
Flamengo are reportedly interested in bringing the 28-year-old resurgent star back to Brazil, and that could be a good move for Richarlison in many ways. Tottenham could consider offloading the attacker as it would suit their cause to reorganise and structure their finances and wages, with the Brazilian one of the top-bracket stars at the club.
Whether that would reflect in boosting Flamengo’s chances remains to be seen, as they may not be the only choice for the 28-year-old resurgent star ahead of next summer. There were rumours of interest from Saudi Arabia, and that might be the case in the future, although Flamengo will retain hope of convincing the attacker to make a return to Brazil.
