“You have to show respect” – Barcelona manager Hansi Flick aims dig at Real Madrid
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has spoken on a variety of topics during his pre-match press conference for Sunday’s fixture against Getafe, as the Catalans aim to keep pace with Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga standings.
As per Diario AS, Flick was asked about Dani Olmo’s lack of prominence at the start of the season, with the midfielder having only started once in five matches thus far.
“We have 25 players and we have to make decisions. We’ve just started the season and every player is important, we need everyone. I’m happy with this situation. Some are not entirely happy, but it is about the team. They know what this is about.”

Flick also spoke on Marcus Rashford, following his match-winning performance in Barcelona’s Champions League victory at Newcastle United earlier in the week.
“I’ve said it before. He gained confidence with the two goals. Our way of playing is always to have a lot of intensity. When you arrive at a club like this you have to adapt, but he is in a great moment. I firmly believe in its quality, but one has to work hard always. You have to improve every day and adapt to every situation.”
Flick, who will be heading to Paris in two days’ time for the Ballon d’Or ceremony, was asked about Lamine Yamal’s chances of winning the award. He also appeared to aim a dig at Real Madrid with his comments, with their El Clasico rivals set to snub the event for the second year in a row.
“I don’t know. Someday we will see it, he will win it one day. But to be there is to maintain respect. You have to go there, show respect to the winners and that is vitally important. You have to show respect to the winners. Whoever wins it deserves it.”
