Elliot Anderson content at Nottingham Forest amid emerging links

Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson is happy and content at the Premier League club amid his links with Manchester United.

According to a report by Football Insider, Elliot Anderson is the subject of interest of Manchester United. The Red Devils are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a dynamic midfielder next year. So, the 22-year-old Nottingham Forest mainstay has emerged as a target for them.

However, recent reports have claimed that Nottingham Forest will not entertain any bids to part ways with the Englishman in the summer transfer window. The latest update has dealt another blow to Manchester United, as Anderson is happy and content at the City Ground and “has no plans to leave” the Premier League club.

The rise and rise of Elliot Anderson

Elliot Anderson has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League since joining Nottingham Forest from Newcastle United in a deal worth £35 million last year. The 22-year-old spent his formative years in his homeland and graduated from the youth division at Newcastle United.

However, Newcastle United’s struggles to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules forced the Tyneside outfit to sell Anderson to Nottingham Forest. Anderson has made nearly 50 appearances thus far for Nottingham Forest while chipping in with two goals and seven assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Manchester United.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Manchester United’s interest in Elliot Anderson makes sense. The Red Devils are desperate to sign a holding midfielder next year after failing to secure Carlos Baleba’s services in the summer transfer window. With Casemiro approaching the twilight of his career and Manuel Ugarte failing to make his mark since joining Manchester United, they need a defensive midfielder.

However, while Baleba is still on Manchester United’s radar, Anderson is also a viable target for the struggling Premier League giants. But a deal will not be straightforward, as Nottingham Forest will not entertain any bids to part ways with the 22-year-old Englishman. Additionally, the young midfielder is happy and content at the high-flying Premier League club.

The report has suggested that Anderson “has no plans” to leave Nottingham Forest, thus dealing another blow to Manchester United. It will be interesting to see if the Red Devils remain undeterred in the battle for the English midfielder’s signature.
