Saudi Pro League ponder winter move for Bruno Fernandes, player stance unchanged

Saudi Pro League sides are widely expected to return with offers for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes in January, but a move remains complicated.

According to TBR, Bruno Fernandes is the subject of further interest from Saudi Pro League clubs, who are now widely expected to return with offers in January. Any deal for the ever-present Manchester United star could prove difficult, as the player may continue to maintain his previous stance at least until next summer.

Bruno Fernandes was a huge target for Al-Hilal before the Club World Cup, as the Saudi side wanted to make use ot the mini-window before the tournament to get the Portuguese star’s signature. They did make a big offer for Manchester United’s liking, with widespread reports commenting that it was a decision for the player to make.

Fernandes chose against leaving Manchester United, and at the time, it felt like a closed chapter. However, the Saudi Pro League interest re-emerged in the days after the European window shut, with reports stating Al-Itihad were in talks with Fernandes’ entourage.

With the Saudi window about to close today, the chances of him leaving the club are unlikely, but that has not reduced the pressure from the Middle Eastern league. For instance, reports are stating Cristiano Ronaldo wants Fernandes at Al-Nassr, and that makes it three clubs that are openly interested in the ever-present Manchester United star.

The Saudi Pro League sides are about to return with offers ahead of the January window to make another attempt at signing the Manchester United skipper. However, any deal for the Portuguese international will prove complex to the extent that they may not be able to sign him in the winter months.

Bruno Fernandes’ stance is unchanged

Fernandes preferred to stay at Manchester United to help the team get out of their slump and possibly take them back into European competitions. With this being a World Cup year, it will have a big impact on how players think, and they will prioritise playing regularly in a settled environment to make their respective national team squads in the summer.

As for Fernandes, his stance on a switch to Saudi Arabia may not have changed, despite suggestions that a large enough offer might even tempt Manchester United to sell. While it is suggested that a mid-season switch to Saudi Arabia may not hamper Fernandes’ stature in the national team, the ever-present Manchester United star may not prefer to move then, although a summer switch could be on the cards.
