Rodrygo Goes committed to Real Madrid amid Manchester City links

Rodrygo Goes may not leave Real Madrid in the winter window despite rumours suggesting otherwise, with Manchester City still interested.

According to Defensa Central, Manchester City may have to wait a little longer than the January window to make a move for key target Rodrygo Goes. The Brazilian attacker is not planning on leaving Real Madrid in the winter window despite speculation surrounding his role under Xabi Alonso.

Rodrygo Goes was an ongoing talking point during the summer transfer window, as new boss Xabi Alonso barely used the Brazilian during the Club World Cup run. Speculation grew around that time that the winger might consider his options away from Real Madrid if his situation did not improve.

Alonso has stuck to his guns and insisted that while the player is an important part of the squad, he will not guarantee anything about playing time. The summer arrival of teenage Argentine prospect Franco Mastantuono, as well as his immediate promotion to the starting lineup, raised further questions about Rodrygo’s immediate future.

Rodrygo ended up staying at Real Madrid, but there have been rumours stating that he was still contemplating a change ahead of future windows. Arsenal and Manchester City continued to be linked, as reports stated the player could ponder an exit in January if his game time under Alonso does not improve.

With a spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad for Brazil on the line, Rodrygo feels he could risk his place in the setup should he change teams mid-season. Hence, the 24-year-old Real Madrid star is ready to fight for his place and lean towards continuity rather than an immediate change.

Manchester City may have to wait for Rodrygo Goes

Manchester City retain an interest in Rodrygo, as there is a chance they could sell Savinho in January and replace the winger with the 24-year-old Real Madrid attacker. However, they may have to wait a little longer than the winter transfer window, as the summer market may represent a more favourable opportunity to sign the winger.

Manchester City are the current favourites for Rodrygo, although there is reported interest from rivals such as Arsenal and Liverpool in the 24-year-old Real Madrid forward. Hence, come the summer window, there will be intense competition for Rodrygo, as there is a big chance he could leave the Santiago Bernabeu.
