“I’m a player who has the ability to do it” – Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal reveals Ballon d’Or dream
Lamine Yamal is seen as one of the favourites to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or, alongside former Barcelona teammate Ousmane Dembele. The 18-year-old has had an exceptional 12 months, and his reward could be to become the youngest ever winner of the prestigious award, which France Football will hand out later this year.
A number of people have backed Lamine Yamal to take home the award, including present and former players. And now the man himself has given his reaction to the Ballon d’Or – as per MD, he revealed on José Ramón de la Morena’s podcast ‘Resonancia de Corazón’ that he will not be content with only one success in his career.
“I told my friends, I don’t dream of having a Ballon d’Or, I dream of having many. I think I’m a player who has the ability to do it – and if I don’t do it, it’s because I haven’t done things well or because I haven’t wanted to. So I dream of having many and the day it comes, it will come and I’ll be very happy. But I’m going to want to keep winning more.”

How many Ballon d’Or awards can Lamine Yamal win?
Given that he is only 18 years of age, there is a belief that Lamine Yamal could win many Ballon d’Or awards over the course of his professional career. He will have one eye on Cristiano Ronaldo’s five successes, and there is more than a chance that he can reach the eight achieved by Lionel Messi.
For now, it is all hypothetical, but it is clear that Lamine Yamal is a player that has the ability to dominate football for many, many years to come. He is already showcasing his skills at Barcelona, who will hope to retain his services for the entirety of his playing days.
