Arsenal and Barcelona line up winter move for Luiz Benedetti

Arsenal and Barcelona are interested in making a move for Palmeiras defender Luiz Benedetti in January as they view the young talent as a strategic investment.

According to Caught Offside, Palmeiras defender Luiz Benedetti continued to attract the attention of some of the big clubs in Europe, with Arsenal and Barcelona ready to make offers in January. The 19-year-old Brazilian prodigy is seen as a strategic investment by those big clubs, as he could be potentially acquired on the cheap.

Palmeiras have another big decision on their hands ahead of the January window, as they could soon receive offers for their young defender, Luiz Benedetti. The 19-year-old Brazilian prodigy has impressed with his limited performances for the club, and already has the attention of some big clubs in Europe.

Arsenal and Barcelona are considering making offers for the 19-year-old Brazilian prodigy in January, with the young centre-back viewed as a strategic investment for the future. The centre-back still has plenty to learn at the top level, and that would be on the minds of interested parties ahead of signing him.

On the financial part, he could be a cheaper acquisition, with the report stating that Palmeiras may consider selling him for a decent figure. Arsenal and Barcelona are considering making offers for the 19-year-old Brazilian prodigy and testing Palmeiras’ resolve on the young centre-back.

Barcelona were interested in the summer after they lost Inigo Martinez to Al-Nassr, as Benedetti represents a similar profile to the Spaniard, albeit much younger. The Catalans will enter the race in a big way should they get encouragement to acquire the player for a relatively low price compared to the market in Europe.

Arsenal are keen on Luiz Benedetti

Arsenal were indeed interested in Benedetti briefly, although they did pivot their attention towards other targets. The club pondered selling Jakub Kiwior then, with the Polish defender eventually leaving for FC Porto, as Benedetti fit into the left-footed centre-back criteria they sought to replace Kiwior.

Arsenal ended up signing Piero Hincapie, who is seen more as a readymade option for the current squad, although they have not lost sight of Benedetti. Hence, like the report states, the Gunners and Barcelona could make offers to test Palmeiras’ resolve on the 19-year-old Brazilian prodigy.
