Manchester United ready to sell Andre Onana before other summer windows close
Manchester United are eager to sell Andre Onana, with the Saudi Arabian window still open and the club not interested in keeping the keeper.
According to Team Talk, Andre Onana could yet leave Manchester United with the Saudi Arabian window still open for business. The Cameroonian keeper could be out of Ruben Amorim’s plans moving forward, as the Red Devils are hoping to sell him for a reasonable price and cut their losses with the stopper.
The goalkeeping situation was one of the big talking points of Manchester United’s summer window. The fans were frustrated with the performances of Andre Onana as well as Altay Bayindir whenever the backup keeper played for them.
The consensus from the fanbase was to replace Onana as the No.1 choice during the summer, with the club actively linked with stars like Emiliano Martinez and Gianluigi Donnarumma. They ended up signing Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day, which was a statement of intent from the club to rectify their goalkeeping situation.
With the European window now closed following Monday’s deadline, there’s still hope for Onana to depart. Should the Cameroonian leave, then Altay Biyandir could be their second choice behind Lammens. The club are hoping to find a solution to Onana’s future, with the Turkish and Saudi Arabian windows still open for business.
Onana, who arrived in a £47 million deal from Inter Milan back in 2023, has failed to convince with his performances in that period. Now, the club could actively look to offload him and will hope there are incoming offers for the Cameroonian in the next few days.
Will Andre Onana leave Manchester United?
Onana was linked with Galatasaray, and the Turkish side could still look into the player, as they had been keen on a new keeper ever since the summer window opened. However, the Saudi Pro League could prove to be a viable destination for the £47 million underperforming star, given that those teams could fulfil Manchester United’s financial criteria as well as pay the player well.
Neom SC were in talks with Onana earlier in the summer before they chose to bring Marcin Bulka instead. There could be a few Saudi sides who could look into the market for a high-profile keeper before their window shuts, and given Onana’s reputation in the market, he could become a viable target for many of the teams in the Middle Eastern league.
