Yoane Wissa set to join Newcastle United as deal agreed

Newcastle United have reached an agreement with Brentford for Yoane Wissa, with the DR Congo striker set to replace Alexander Isak.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United and Brentford have reached an agreement for Yoane Wissa. The Magpies have chased the DR Congo striker throughout the window, and now they are set to bring him in a £55 million deal as a replacement for Alexander Isak.

There has been a frenzy of activity around Newcastle United on deadline day, as plenty of movements were expected today. The Magpies were expected to make their move for a new striker with Yoane Wissa their key target throughout the summer.

Newcastle United agreed a deal with Liverpool to sell Alexander Isak earlier today, and now they want to get a replacement in place before the window slams shut. The Magpies did sign Nick Woltemade a few days ago, but they wanted to bring in an additional striker to cover for the loss of Isak, as well as Callum Wilson, who left earlier in the summer as a free agent before joining West Ham United.

The Yoane Wissa case has been intriguing for all this time, with the striker, who has 49 goals for Brentford, going on a strike to force a move through to the Magpies. Some doubts were creeping in that Newcastle United may not pursue a move a few days earlier, but things have accelerated.

Newcastle United were set to intensify the pursuit on deadline day, and it appears they have finally reached an agreement with Brentford for the French-born attacker. Medical tests are expected to take place sometime today before the club officially announces the Wissa capture.

Newcastle United agree on Yoane Wissa’s fee

The big hold-up in Brentford’s reluctance to sell Wissa centred around the asking price for the DR Congo intenrational. After rejecting at least two separate offers for the striker, Brentford have accepted a proposal worth £55 million for the DR Congo striker.

Yoane Wissa had prioritised a switch to Newcastle United despite interest from elsewhere, with Tottenham also one of those linked. Now, the French-born striker has got his wish, as he is set to be announced as Newcastle United’s latest striker capture before the transfer window shuts.
