Fulham in transfer tussle to sign Lee Kang-in, PSG unlikely to sell

Fulham will reportedly compete with AC Milan, Napoli, and Nottingham Forest to sign 24-year-old South Korean international Lee Kang-in from PSG this summer.

According to an update by Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Lee Kang-in is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile playmaker before the summer transfer window closes. So, the 24-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has emerged as a target for the West London club.

Fulham will be in a four-way battle for the Namdong-gu native, with AC Milan, Napoli, and Nottingham Forest also vying for his signature in the final hours of the summer transfer window. However, PSG will unlikely entertain bids to part ways with Lee before Monday’s deadline.

Lee Kang-in and his PSG spell so far

Lee Kang-in has made considerable progress since joining Paris Saint-Germain from RCD Mallorca in July 2023. The move raised eyebrows, considering the 24-year-old did not set the stage alight in La Liga as well as he would have liked. However, the Asian playmaker has vindicated PSG’s decision by becoming a top-notch performer for Les Parisiens.

The South Korean international has made nearly 100 appearances thus far for PSG while chipping in with 13 goals and 11 assists. Meanwhile, Lee’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Fulham will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the final hours of the summer transfer window.

London calling?

Fulham’s interest in Lee Kang-in is understandable. The Cottagers are scouring the market for a versatile attacker in the final hours of the summer transfer window, with Marco Silva seeking more firepower in the final third. While Alex Iwobi and Emile Smith Rowe are top-class attackers, Fulham can do with another playmaker.

Several versatile attackers, including Samuel Chukwueze, have emerged on Fulham’s radar, with Lee also a viable target. The Asian playmaker’s ability to play on the flanks makes him an appealing option for the West London club. However, Fulham will face stiff competition from AC Milan, Napoli, and Nottingham Forest for the PSG midfielder’s signature.

However, the Ligue 1 champions are “not prioritising” Lee’s sale, and the four suitors must look elsewhere. Recent reports have also linked the 24-year-old South Korean international with other high-profile clubs. However, a summer departure is not on the cards for him.
