Rodrygo Goes set for Real Madrid stay amid Premier League links
Rodrygo Goes reportedly has no interest in leaving Real Madrid in the summer transfer window despite widespread rumours linking him with Liverpool and Manchester City.
According to a report by Football Insider, Liverpool and Manchester City have been keen on signing Rodrygo Goes in the summer transfer window. The two Premier League bigwigs are eager to bolster their offensive units by signing a versatile wide attacker in the coming days. So, the 24-year-old Real Madrid attacker emerged as a target.
However, a summer move to the Premier League will not materialise, as the former Santos wonderkid has ruled out a late departure from the Santiago Bernabeu. While he held talks with Liverpool and Manchester City, the player will remain at Real Madrid beyond the ongoing transfer window.
Rodrygo Goes and his Real Madrid situation
Rodrygo Goes has made considerable progress since joining Real Madrid from Santos in a big-money deal in July 2019. While the South American attacker has not been as productive as he would have liked, he has shown flashes of brilliance in the last half a dozen years. However, the player has not been a happy camper under Xabi Alonso.
The 24-year-old barely featured for Los Blancos during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, and he has managed only 63 minutes of game time in two La Liga outings this season. The situation has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, particularly from the Premier League. Manchester City and Liverpool are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Manchester City’s interest in Rodrygo Goes is understandable. While the Citizens have reinforced their offensive unit in the summer transfer window, Pep Guardiola wants more firepower in the final third amid uncertainties surrounding Savinho’s long-term future. So, the Real Madrid attacker has emerged as a viable target for Manchester City.
As for Liverpool, the Real Madrid attacker is the Merseyside club’s priority target if they fail to sign Alexander Isak. With Luis Diaz joining Bayern Munich, Liverpool can do with a versatile attacker. So, the Premier League champions have held talks with the South American winger’s entourage. However, the player will remain at Real Madrid beyond the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old Brazilian international has no “intentions of leaving” Real Madrid, even though he has held talks with Liverpool and Manchester City. So, the Premier League bigwigs must look elsewhere for a new attacker in the coming days.
