Chelsea cancel Nicolas Jackson transfer to Bayern Munich, player refusing to come back

Chelsea have cancelled Nicolas Jackson’s loan move to Bayern Munich, but the player is refusing to return to the club.

Nicolas Jackson was deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea, and as a result, the Blues were actively looking to move him on. Bayern Munich stepped forward and struck a deal for his services. However, just as he was set to join the German giants, the London club made a drastic U-turn following an injury to Liam Delap.

According to a report from The Athletic, Chelsea have informed Bayern Munich that they no longer wish to proceed with Nicolas Jackson’s loan move. They have asked the player to return to Stamford Bridge.

Jackson has been a part of the Blues’ first-team setup since 2023. While he has done a decent job, the 24-year-old striker failed to cement his spot in the starting XI. Since people at the club were not convinced about him being their go-to man up top, they ended up signing Delap and Joao Pedro.

Following their arrivals, Jackson went down the pecking order, and Chelsea were ready to negotiate his departure. While multiple top clubs were linked with him, Bayern Munich emerged as the most serious suitor.

Jackson’s move to Bayern cancelled

They struck a deal with the London club to sign the Senegalese international on loan, with a buy option worth €80 million (total package). Jackson got the green light to travel to Bayern and undergo his medical.

However, a hamstring injury to Delap against Fulham on Sunday has changed things up. The former Ipswich striker is set to be sidelined for eight weeks, which means Enzo Maresca only has Joao Pedro as an out-and-out striker in his squad.

He is keen on having another option in the final third; as a result, the London club have cancelled Jackson’s loan move to Bayern. They have informed the German club about their decision and have asked the player to return.

Jackson is refusing to return

However, according to Taggat, Jackson is not keen on returning to Stamford Bridge, with his camp refusing to comply with Chelsea’s orders. While the Blues are pushing to bring him back, the player remains determined to complete his move to Bayern.

He has already arrived in Munich to undergo his medical ahead of signing for the German giants. But with Chelsea informing Bayern of the deal’s termination, it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds.
