Kostas Tsimikas closing in on joining AS Roma pushing to seal move
Liverpool full-back Kostas Tsimikas is on the verge of joining Italian giants AS Roma on a season-long loan deal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, AS Roma are closing in on the signature of Kostas Tsimikas. The Italian giants are within touching distance of reaching an agreement with Liverpool to sign the Greek International on loan for the 2025/26 season.
Tsimikas made a name for himself at Olympiacos before joining Liverpool in the summer of 2020. While he might not have been a regular starter for the Reds, the 29-year-old has been a key part of their plans over the years.
He has been an ideal cover for Andrew Robertson, and every time he has stepped onto the pitch, the Greek defender hasn’t disappointed.
While he still has two years left on his deal, Tsimikas has become surplus to requirements following the arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. The 21-year-old will rival Robertson for a place in the starting XI. Since the Greek full-back is unlikely to have much game time going forward, the Reds have been open to his departure.
The player is also pushing for a move away in search of a more prominent role. AS Roma have emerged as a potential destination as the Italian giants want more quality at left-back.
Roma are on the verge of signing Tsimikas
They have been in talks with Liverpool in recent weeks, and Romano has suggested that they are on the verge of striking a deal with the Merseyside club.
Both parties are close to reaching a full agreement over a loan move for the 2025/26 season, with Roma set to cover his entire wages. The player has already given the green light and is pushing for the move, so it now appears only a matter of time before the deal is finalised.
With Anass Salah-Eddine on the verge of leaving Roma, Tsimikas is expected to step in as his replacement in the squad. The 29-year-old has a lot of experience under his belt, and he could prove to be a very valuable addition to the Italian club.
