Bournemouth open talks to sign Axel Disasi from Chelsea
Bournemouth will reportedly look to sign 27-year-old French international Axel Disasi from fellow Premier League club Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
According to an update by reputed Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Axel Disasi is the subject of interest from Bournemouth. The Cherries are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a centre-back in the summer transfer window after parting ways with Dean Huijsen and Illia Zabarnyi. So, the 27-year-old out-of-favour Chelsea defender has emerged as a target.
Bournemouth and Chelsea are in “club-to-club talks” over a possible move for Disasi in the summer transfer window, hoping to secure a loan deal with a purchase option. Additionally, the Cherries have also approached the Frenchman to discuss personal terms.
Axel Disasi and his Chelsea troubles
Axel Disasi has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Chelsea from AS Monaco in a deal worth €45 million in August 2023. The 27-year-old was solid in his debut season, but his stock fell after Enzo Maresca took over from Mauricio Pochettino last summer. After the player struggled for game time in the first half of the 2024/25 season, Chelsea loaned him to Aston Villa in February.
However, the French defender managed only 614 minutes of game time in ten appearances for Aston Villa before returning to Chelsea. But the player has no future at the West London club, as they are ready to cash in on him. A move across the Premier League is on the cards, with Bournemouth among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Bournemouth’s interest in Axel Disasi is understandable. The Cherries are scouring the market for a centre-back this summer after parting ways with Dean Huijsen and Illia Zabarnyi. Several candidates, including Lucas Beraldo, have emerged on Bournemouth’s radar, with Disasi also a viable target.
Bournemouth and Chelsea are in “club-to-club talks” over a possible move for Disasi, and they have also approached the player to discuss personal terms. The Premier League club will aim to secure the 27-year-old Frenchman’s services in a loan deal with a purchase option. However, it is unclear if Chelsea will be open to that arrangement after deciding to cash in on Disasi.
Meanwhile, other Premier League clubs, including Wolverhampton Wanderers, have also shown interest in Disasi. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the French defender as he looks to secure regular game time in the 2025/26 season.
