Inter Milan make approach for Trevoh Chalobah amid Crystal Palace links, Bundesliga giants also keen
Inter Milan are gathering information on Trevoh Chalobah, with Crystal Palace and Bundesliga sides also keen on the Chelsea defender.
According to Caught Offside, Chelsea star Trevoh Chalobah continues to attract attention in the market, with Inter Milan the latest to show an interest. The Nerazzurri are eager to land the versatile defender on loan, but Chelsea might prefer a permanent sale, considering there is sufficient interest from the likes of Crystal Palace and Bundesliga giants.
Inter Milan are angling for a move for Trevoh Chalobah this summer to improve their defensive setup. The main idea is to try and bring the player on loan with a buy option of some kind, given how the defender fits into their wage structure, and would improve their backline, especially if there are departures.
Yann Bisseck was linked with a move away, but Inter Milan will probably keep him. So, someone like Chalobah might be seen as an addition to their backline. The idea of a loan might backfire, as Chelsea are open to selling him permanently, if at all, they are convinced to let him leave.
Inter Milan have made an approach of sorts, probably through intermediaries, to gather information on a potential deal for Trevoh Chalobah. Chelsea are reportedly demanding €35 million for the homegrown star, as a sale of that level will be recorded as pure profit on their accounting books.
Inter Milan are not the only side interested in Trevoh Chalobah, as Crystal Palace remain keen to add him. The Eagles are anticipating a possible departure for Marc Guehi and view the €35 million-rated Chelsea star as a replacement for the England international. The Eagles could offer him a regular place, but there is more competition from Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund, alongside the Serie A giants.
The idea of the Bundesliga might appeal to Chalobah, especially if the likes of Dortmund and Leipzig can offer him a stable place in the squad. The defender does not want to stay on the bench for long periods, which might push him towards the exit door at Chelsea.
Chelsea to make Trevoh Chalobah decision soon
Chelsea suffered a massive blow following the injury to Levi Colwill, with the club already looking at options to replace the knackered defender. Piero Hincapie’s name has been mentioned, and should a new defender arrive, it would increase the chances of Chalobah leaving in search of a regular place elsewhere.
Moreover, Chelsea are also planning on keeping Josh Acheampong, which would signal their possible intent to sell Trevoh Chalobah if an offer arrived for the €35 million-rated star. The upcoming weeks will be key to see what transpires with the defender’s future, as a move to Palace, Serie A, or the Bundesliga is possible.
