Inter Milan join Marc Guehi race
Cristian Chivu’s Inter Milan could try to hijack Liverpool’s move for Crystal Palace defensive mainstay Marc Guehi.
According to a report from CaughtOffside, Inter Milan have entered the race to sign Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi. While Liverpool have been pushing for his signature, they haven’t been able to strike a deal with the Eagles. With negotiations reaching a standstill, Inter could try to hijack the deal.
Guehi has only gone from strength to strength since joining Palace from Chelsea back in 2021. He has been one of their mainstays and is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the Premier League. His consistent performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs, and his contract situation suggests he could be on the move in the near future.
Liverpool keep pushing for Guehi
He has entered the final year of his deal, and rivals Liverpool are trying to add him to their squad this summer. With Virgil Van Dijk entering the final phase of his career and Ibrahima Konate’s future uncertain, Arne Slot is keen on signing a proven central defender.
While they secured a 4-2 win over Bournemouth in their first league game, they didn’t have the best of defensive performances. Van Dijk didn’t look his usual self, while Konate struggled to cope with the Cherries’ forwards. Slot is pushing to add a central defender this summer, and Guehi is at the top of their wishlist.
The Reds are in direct contact with Palace regarding a potential deal, but there is a significant difference in the valuation of both clubs. The Eagles value him at £45–50 million, while Liverpool won’t go beyond the £35–40 million mark, as the player could be available for free in a year’s time.
Inter Milan are plotting a free transfer for 2026
With Liverpool struggling to strike a deal, Inter Milan have entered the race. They are carefully monitoring Guehi’s situation. While they are not expected to make a move this summer, they are eyeing a free transfer next summer.
The Italian club’s president Giuseppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio have held talks with the player’s representatives. They have communicated to his agents that Guehi is firmly on their shortlist for 2026. If he fails to secure a move away and runs down his deal at Palace, Inter will present him with a lucrative deal to make the move to Milan next year.
