Inter Close to Completing a Couple of Sales
Inter are set to bid farewell to two fringe contributors, as they have agreed to sell Nicola Zalewski to Atalanta, while Bologna are making strides to acquire Kristjan Asllani. La Dea zeroed in on the Pole after getting rebuffed by Fiorentina for Robin Gosens, Quotidiano Sportivo reports.
The Bergamaschi will pay €17M for the former Roma starlet. They splurged for Honest Ahanor in June, but he’s been used more as a center-back. The other Nerazzurri will record an unexpected ‘plusvalenza’ considering they paid €6.5M to buy out the youngster at the end of last season. The deal is separate from the Ademola Lookman situation, which keeps stalling.
Zalewski has already taken the medicals, while Inter and Bologna are still discussing the Asllani transfer. Unlike other suitors, for instance Torino, the Rossoblù want him on a permanent deal, or at least a loan with a conditional obligation to buy. His price tag should be a little lower than his soon-to-be former teammate’s.
The Serie A runner-ups will pocket €30/35M in total. According to Corriere dello Sport, they haven’t abandoned the idea of signing Manu Koné though Roma rejected their first bid. They were left with the impression that he’s gettable for the right number. Their ownership might prefer investing more for him, or younger players in general, rather than for Lookman.
Our Take on Inter Offloading Zalewski and Asllani
It won’t be a partial swap, but the channel of communication between clubs is open. The Nigerian star will be an option until he heads elsewhere. On the other hand, even if the two castoffs are backups, they kind of have to shore up the midfield to be more at ease depth-wise now.
