Francis Okoronkwo set to join Lincoln City in season-long deal
Everton attacking sensation Francis Okoronkwo is reportedly all set to join League One outfit Lincoln City on a season-long loan.
According to a report from Football Insider, Francis Okoronkwo has agreed to join Lincoln City on a temporary basis. The Everton striker was recently in attendance at the LNER Stadium, and he is expected to soon finalise his move to the Imps.
Okoronkwo was a part of Sunderland back in the day, but he ended up joining Everton’s youth setup in 2021. The 20-year-old striker has gone from strength to strength since joining the Merseyside club.
He has had an impressive rise since his move to the Toffees. Okoronkwo spent the last season on loan at League Two outfit Salford City, where he had his first taste of professional football. He was involved in a total of 24 games and ended up scoring four goals.
While people at Everton are well aware of the youngster’s massive potential, he is not yet ready to be a part of their first team under David Moyes. As a result, they have decided to send him out on loan again. Lincoln City emerged as a potential destination for the 20-year-old. The Imps are looking to push for promotion this time around, and they seek more quality and depth in the final third.
Lincoln City strike a deal for Okoronkwo
Lincoln City believe Francis Okoronkwo could prove to be a valuable addition to their first team. As a result, they have been working hard to secure his services on a temporary basis. Lincoln already have an agreement in place with both the player and the club.
After giving the green light to the move, Okoronkwo was spotted at the LNER Stadium on Saturday watching Lincoln City take on Plymouth Argyle. He will now head to the League One outfit to finalise his loan move.
The 20-year-old striker sees this as a great opportunity to play regular first-team football. He wants to work on himself and be ready for an opportunity to make the jump to the Everton first team in the future.
The Merseyside club have struggled to find an ideal number nine for the long, and Beto has recently linked with Leeds United. As a result, an impressive season at Lincoln City could actually earn Okoronkwo a promotion to the senior team.
