Atalanta optimistic of signing Rodrigo Muniz

Atalanta are confident about securing the services of Fulham attacking sensation Rodrigo Muniz before the transfer deadline.

Rodrigo Muniz could end up parting ways with Fulham this summer. Atalanta are keen on securing his services, and according to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, the Serie A outfit are optimistic about striking a deal with the Cottagers for the Brazilian striker.

After making a name for himself coming up the ranks at Flamengo, Muniz made the move to England to join Fulham back in 2021. He has worked his way into Marco Silva’s plans, and he was an important part of their first team last season.

The 24-year-old striker was involved in a total of 31 matches, and he ended up contributing towards 13 goals (11 goals, 2 assists). His impressive performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs.

While a number of English clubs, including Leeds United, have expressed interest in Muniz’s services, they have not formalised it with an offer. Meanwhile, Atalanta have emerged as a potential destination for the Brazilian striker. The Serie A club have taken giant strides in recent years, and they are keen on signing the Fulham ace to help them take the next step.

Muniz’s current deal at Fulham runs out in 12 months, but the Cottagers have an option to extend it by another year. However, the West London outfit have been in talks to hand him a new deal to secure his long-term future, but things have not gone according to plan for them.

Muniz is closing in on a move to Atalanta

With both parties not being able to reach a common ground, a potential exit this summer cannot be ruled out. Rodrigo Muniz is aware of Atalanta’s interest, and he seems keen on making the switch, as it will hand him the opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League.

Atalanta considers him the perfect fit for their project and are willing to make a big splash on him. They are ready to fork out more than €40 million on the Brazilian attacker, which will make him the costliest Serie A transfer of the summer, surpassing AC Milan’s €36 million deal for Ardon Jashari.

While Marco Silva is reluctant to lose out on the 24-year-old, the magnitude of the deal suggests it could go through. La Dea are confident of sealing a deal in the coming days, as they believe the player is eager to join them.
