Manchester United tracking Lee Kang-in, Arsenal establish contact

Lee Kang-in is being tracked by Manchester United while Arsenal have reportedly made contact, as PSG could ponder a sale.

According to Caught Offside, Lee Kang-in has emerged on the lists of Arsenal and Manchester United. The Premier League giants are keen on landing the 24-year-old PSG playmaker, with the Gunners reportedly making direct contact to explore a move.

Lee Kang-in remains one of PSG’s talented acquisitions and helped Luis Enrique’s side in the treble-winning season. While the club continues to rate him highly, the South Korean has not found a way to break into the side as a regular starter and is viewed more as a rotational player.

He has done well to get the minutes he got last season, but the 24-year-old PSG playmaker is at an age where he needs to play regularly in a team. Depending on whether he is content with his current role in Paris, the South Korean might even ponder moving elsewhere for regular football.

There have been interest from Premier League teams before, and should a good enough offer arrive, PSG might consider selling. Arsenal were keen before the window opened, and now, it appears they have made direct contact for the 24-year-old PSG playmaker.

Mikel Arteta may not need a player of his quality, especially after the signing of Noni Madueke and the contract extension of Ethan Nwaneri. Unless the Spanish manager views Lee for the left-hand side of his attack, or as an alternative to Eberechi Eze, a move may not be on the cards despite what the report states.

Manchester United tracking Lee Kang-in

Manchester United are reportedly tracking Lee ahead of a potential approach for the PSG star. The Red Devils have enough players in the positions that the South Korean likes to occupy, which does cast doubts on whether they are serious about a move. Moreover, they are prioritising a new midfielder with Adam Wharton the latest to be targeted as an alternative to Carlos Baleba, while Morten Hjulmand is also on their list.

For instance, Lee is primarily a right-winger, as Manchester United already have Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo in those roles. Similarly, in his other position as an attacking midfielder, Ruben Amorim currently has Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount, although the Portuguese boss does not play with a No.10 in his system, which casts further doubts over their interest in the South Korean.
