Manchester City turn down latest Tottenham offer for Savinho

Thomas Frank’s Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Manchester City winger Savinho.

According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester City have turned down an offer of over £60 million from Tottenham for the services of Savinho. The North London club have suffered a massive blow, but they haven’t given up just yet and could soon return with an improved bid.

Savinho made a name for himself at Girona. Following his impressive loan spell at the Spanish club, Manchester City secured his services last summer. The 21-year-old ended up having an impressive debut campaign.

While he had a rotational role under Pep Guardiola, he managed to earn the trust of the manager with his impressive performances. The Brazilian winger was involved in a total of 48 matches, racked up over 3,000 minutes and ended up contributing towards 16 goals.

His exceptional performances in the English top flight have caught the attention of Tottenham Hotspur, who are pushing hard to secure his services. The North London club consider him an ideal fit to bolster their attack following the departure of Son Heung-min.

Spurs’ offer turned down

With James Maddison also out injured, Thomas Franks is in desperate need of more options in the final third, and the versatile Savinho could certainly help his cause. Spurs have already tested the waters with an offer of over £60 million.

However, it wasn’t good enough as City value him at around £70-£80 million. Given his impressive debut campaign, the Manchester-based giants are in no rush to cash in on him. They will only listen to offers that meet their financial demands.

His departure could actually help City secure the services of Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid. However, they are not actively pushing to offload the 21-year-old. Since he will only get better with time, they want a significant fee to let go of Savinho.

Tottenham to return with an improved offer

While City turning down Tottenham’s latest offer is certainly a massive blow, the North London club haven’t given up on their pursuit. They are aware that the cost of the operation could be a touch on the higher side, but they are still willing to return with an improved and more compelling offer.

Spurs are ready to go all-out, as the former Troyes star could be a great acquisition for the short and long run. More importantly, he has already proven himself in the English top flight.
