Manchester City will make move to sign Rodrygo Goes after selling Savinho
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will only make a move for Real Madrid ace Rodrygo Goes once they offload Savinho.
After a disappointing 2024/25 season, Manchester City have been quite active in the ongoing transfer window. While they have already made significant additions to their squad, Pep Guardiola’s team are looking to finish with a blockbuster signing.
The Manchester-based giants have their eyes set on Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes. They consider him an ideal fit for their project, but according to a report from Fichajes, City need to finalise the sale of Savinho before making a move for the Brazilian international.
City are ready to sell Savinho
The 21-year-old joined Pep Guardiola’s team last summer after making a name for himself at Girona. He had an impressive debut campaign with three goals and 13 assists in his 48 outings. Despite his impressive performances, City are considering parting ways with him as the Spanish manager wants a much more threatening option on the flanks.
While there is no shortage of interest in the 21-year-old, Tottenham have already knocked on City’s door with an offer close to £60 million. Guardiola’s team have turned down the initial offer as they value him between €70-€80 million.
They won’t let him leave for anything less than that figure. City are optimistic that Spurs will return with an improved offer in the near future. Savinho’s departure will play a massive part in the potential signing of Rodrygo.
Savinho’s departure could lead to Rodrygo’s arrival
Los Blancos want €100 million for the Brazilian international. While City are willing to reach that figure, they can only table an offer once they have raised funds by letting go of the 21-year-old.
Guardiola is pushing for the signing of Rodrygo. The Spanish manager is a massive admirer of the 24-year-old and feels his arrival could take their team to the next level. His versatility could come in handy. More importantly, the Real Madrid ace is already a proven star, and he is yet to enter his prime years.
While there has been a lot of talk about Rodrygo’s future, Real Madrid still considers him a valuable part of their squad. As a result, City will have to put forward a sizeable fee and they will have to convince him about leaving his dream club to make the move to England.
