James Justin closing in on joining Leeds United

Leeds United will reportedly look to sign 27-year-old English international James Justin from Leicester City in the summer transfer window.

According to an update by the reliable Ben Jacobs, James Justin is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a versatile full-back in the summer transfer window. So, the 27-year-old Leicester City wide player has emerged as a target for the newly promoted Premier League club. The 2024/25 EFL Championship winners are in advanced talks to sign him in the summer transfer window.

James Justin and his career

James Justin has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Leicester City from Luton Town in July 2019. A native of Luton, the Englishman spent his youth career in his hometown, joining Luton Town as a seven-year-old in 2005 before graduating from the EFL League One club’s academy.

However, the 27-year-old has become a household name during his spell with Leicester City, coming leaps and bounds in the last half a dozen years. Justin has turned out over 150 times thus far for the EFL Championship outfit while chipping in with 11 goals and 10 assists. While the versatile full-back has battled a few fitness issues, he has been a dependable performer for the Foxes.

However, Justin faces an uncertain future at Leicester City after entering the final 12 months of his contract. The situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen on signing the English full-back, with Leeds United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Premier League return beckons?

Leeds United’s interest in James Justin is understandable. While Daniel Farke has a stacked squad, the German tactician wants to sign players who can make a difference for the daunting challenge of remaining in the Premier League beyond the 2025/26 season.

So, Justin has emerged as a viable target for Leeds United, and the 27-year-old Englishman will unlikely cost a bomb, considering his contract situation. Meanwhile, the negotiations have advanced, and the Leicester City full-back is closing in on moving to Elland Road.

Recent reports have suggested that Leicester City’s asking price for Justin is around £6 million. It will be interesting to see if Leeds United can sign the English wide player before they face Arsenal in Gameweek 2 of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
