Arsenal and Fenerbahce have reportedly struck an agreement in principle over a deal for 28-year-old Ukrainian international Oleksandr Zinchenko.

According to a report by Turkish outlet Sporx, Oleksandr Zinchenko is the subject of interest from Fenerbahce. The Turkish Super Lig heavyweights are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a versatile footballer in the summer transfer window. So, the 28-year-old Arsenal utility man has emerged as a target for the Yellow Canaries.

While the Turkish giants face stiff competition from FC Porto for Zinchenko’s signature, they have secured an agreement in principle with Arsenal over “the details of the deal” in the summer transfer window. However, with the former Manchester City ace yet to approve the move, the prospective move is up in the air.

Oleksandr Zinchenko has seen his stock plummet despite an impressive debut season after joining Arsenal from Manchester City in July 2022. While the 28-year-old has been a utility man for the North London outfit due to his versatility, he has fallen in the pecking order in the last two seasons.

The Ukrainian international managed only 789 minutes of game time across 23 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with one goal and one assist. However, Zinchenko’s stock in the market remains high, with several well-known clubs across Europe setting their sights on him. Fenerbahce will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Fenerbahce’s interest in Oleksandr Zinchenko is understandable. Recent reports have suggested that Jose Mourinho wants the Turkish Super Lig outfit to reinforce the midfield department in the summer transfer window and that he views the Arsenal utility man as an option for the unit.

Fenerbahce also mulled over signing Douglas Luiz from Juventus in the summer transfer window before the deal failed to see the light of day.
