Chelsea have verbal agreement with RB Leipzig over Xavi Simons transfer
Chelsea reportedly have a verbal agreement in place with RB Leipzig for Xavi Simons, as potential outgoings could advance the move.
According to Rudy Galetti, Chelsea are waiting on a few outgoings to materialise before bringing in new players. They already have a verbal agreement in place with RB Leipzig for Xavi Simons, as the exit of players like Christopher Nkunku could help advance the move for the Dutchman.
Chelsea have had a tremendous window so far, as they have thoroughly focused on improving their attacking setup. The likes of Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens arrived at Stamford Bridge, with more attacking signings planned before the transfer window ends.
Alejandro Garnacho being one, while Chelsea have advanced in the chase of Xavi Simons. The latter could be the first one to arrive of the two, although the Blues are waiting on a few outgoings before getting the deals for the duo over the line.
Simons is open to joining Chelsea despite Manchester City’s interest over the last few days. The Blues have been in talks with RB Leipzig as well as the player’s camp, and it appears there’s a verbal agreement in place with the Bundesliga giants for the 22-year-old.
The Blues will further advance once players like Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson leave the club, which would free up funds and space to bring in new players. The fee for Simons remains unclear, but Leipzig are expected to demand significantly.
Christopher Nkunku for sale
Chelsea had made it clear to Nkunku and his camp that the Frenchman had no future at Stamford Bridge even back in January. Bayern Munich have had an interest in the attacker, and could launch a late move, which could then allow the Blues to bring in Simons.
Reports also stated of a potential swap with Leipzig involving Nkunku, but those trails have seemingly gone a bit cold. The Frenchman might look at clubs like Bayern Munich as a step up in his career rather than thinking about going back to old stomping grounds, as he’s certain to depart Chelsea before the window shuts.
