Gianluigi Donnarumma agent opens door to Premier League move
Gianluigi Donnarumma’s agent, Enzo Raiola, stated that the Premier League would be the next destination for the goalkeeper as he prepared to leave PSG.
The Gianluigi Donnarumma situation that began as a mild rumour has blown into a full-time saga, as the keeper is now closer than ever to leaving PSG. His agent, Enzo Raiola, has been in the media speaking about the stopper’s situation, and it’s clear that the player’s relationship with the Parisians is all but done.
PSG have already signed Lucas Chevalier as their new No.1, and Luis Enrique coming out publicly to claim that he decided to omit Donnarumma from the UEFA Super Cup squad has caught massive attention in the media.
Donnarumma is in the final year of his deal at PSG, and the two parties have been unable to agree on fresh terms. The actual issue between the club and player remains unclear, but it might be related to money or a sporting issue between the Italian and Enrique.
Either way, all signs point towards an imminent exit, with PSG demanding a decent fee to let the Champions League-winning keeper depart. As for his next destination, previous reports had stated that Donnarumma had privately admitted a desire to play in the Premier League, with the message now very much public knowledge, courtesy of his agent Raiola.
Fabrizio Romano’s post on X ran comments from Raiola as he spoke to the media on the Donnarumma issue. As he had some strong words for PSG, the agent also stated that the Premier League might be his client’s next destination once he leaves the Parisians.
Raiola said, “Premier League is the right step for Gigio in my view, we’re working on it”.
“There are zero talks with Italian clubs. We are still shocked by PSG’s behaviour with Gigio”.
Manchester United were seen as the front-runners for a long time amid credible links with the keeper. However, things may have changed in the background, as the Red Devils are probably now leaning towards starting the new season with the ineffective Andre Onana in goal.
Manchester City have come into the mix, and over the last few days, they appear to be the club ready to sign the Italian stopper. Donnarumma reportedly has agreed on personal terms with Manchester City, which might indicate that a deal is closer to completion.
There’s still some way for this deal with Manchester City to conclude, as Pep Guardiola would be looking to offload both his keepers from last season. After signing James Trafford from Burnley, Manchester City were initially ready to offload Stefan Ortega, although the availability and chase of Donnarumma indicate that Ederson Moraes might also leave.
